#Shaffett Strong

One fall, one trip to the hospital, one unexpected diagnosis, and her life turned upside down instantly, but God remains the source of her strength and faith to stand amidst the storm!
Jessica Shaffett, a native of Echo, LA, now living in Catahoula, LA, with her husband and two teenage children, is a beautiful young lady with a beautiful spirit. Daughter to Pete and Janell Lacombe of Echo, LA, Jessica treasures her family's love and support in times of uncertainty and ambiguity. Jessica's faith in God is steadfast and fervent. She is an active member and volunteer of Our Savior's Church in Broussard, LA.
About seven months ago, our good friend Jessica Shaffett suffered a bad fall in her home. After a hospital visit to determine if anything was significantly injured from the fall, an unexpected diagnosis loomed over them. Jessica was informed that she had cancer. Her life and the lives of her family changed in an instant. Beginning chemo treatments has greatly upset her and her family's lives. The treatments themselves, though severe enough, are exacerbated by the unusual and often highly complicated side effects. Jessica says, "I am mentally coming to terms with my new reality." The treatments have severely limited her independence, and she is now unable to work or provide financially for her family.
Jessica's response to her diagnosis and current predicament is remarkably admirable. She would say, "All I can do is pray and keep faith strong through this journey that God will provide for and guide my family." Despite her recent Stage 3 Colorectal Cancer diagnosis on February 22, 2022, Jessica has been adamant about safeguarding her undying faith in God and ensuring that her family remains positive through this heartbreaking circumstance.
Humility and selflessness are attributes etched in Jessica's soul and spirit. Rather than being focused on her own ailment and tribulation, she remains focused on the well-being of her family and friends.
Jessica petitions us to pray for healing and strength as she navigates this journey. She is also very humbly asking for financial assistance to help pay for medical bills, gas for traveling, and hotel stays while getting treatments, as well as household bills that will become overwhelming since she cannot work.
We are establishing a fundraising campaign (#Shaffett Strong) to support Jessica in the season ahead. We will have blue wristbands for sale with "#Shaffett Strong" printed on them. The wristbands will be offered for $5 each. This campaign's proceeds will go directly to Jessica and her family.
In her own words, she says, "I appreciate any and all help and prayers, and my family is forever grateful."
Fear not for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your god; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. - Isaiah 41:10
